Jake Valpey

About the Instructor

Jake grew up in scenic New Hampshire, spending every summer boating and water skiing in the lakes region. At the age of 16 he attended a sailing program in the British Virgin Islands. This experience sparked a profound passion leading him back to the BVIs for the next 6 summers. Eventually becoming a captain and dive instructor. After graduating from Rollins College down in Florida he went on to become a mate and Nautical Science Instructor on a 112ft sail training vessel.

Jake has sailed across the Atlantic three times, the Indian Ocean once and around Tortola too many times to count... eventually he'll sail across the Pacific. He holds a Master of Yachts 200 Ton Limited Sail Endorsed from International Yacht Training as well as a USCG 100 Ton Master Captain's License with Auxiliary Sail Endorsement. When not navigating on the water Jake can be found underwater, scuba diving or sharing his love for the underwater world by teaching others to dive.
